AMANDA ENNIS

There is an intimacy from working with clay that I have made myself. While I work on the potter's wheel, I clutch the spinning vessel close to my chest as my hands shape the clay. The additive texture, developed from a mesh strainer, represents a growing version of a smaller self, eroding and weighing each piece down. The vessels are thick and heavy with no functional purpose that continue to sink into themselves as they are burdened by their own topography.
